The team reviews feasibility and production requirements before committing to a formula or run.
What makes a shampoo project ready for production?
Performance and experience
Define cleansing level, foam, rinse feel, fragrance, target hair and scalp experience, and how the product should fit a conditioner or wider routine. These choices guide samples and testing; they are not promises of clinical outcomes.
Bottle and fill
Share your fill size, bottle material, closure or pump, label plan, and component status. Formula viscosity, dispensing, compatibility, and filling setup need to work together before a run is scheduled.
Formula and ownership
Starting from a concept? Discuss custom development and revisions. Already own the formula? Bring specifications, raw material details, testing records, and prior production information for a transfer review. You retain ownership of your formula and can manufacture elsewhere.
Development or direct production?
New concept or early brand: The Accelerator and Pilot Program offer development paths for eligible projects. Physical production can start at 500 units when the formula, components, packaging, testing, and project fit allow it. Production is quoted separately.
Production-ready brand: Direct contract manufacturing generally starts at 5,000 units with a transferable formula, specifications, approvals, packaging, and a defined order plan.

How the shampoo process works
1. Review the brief
Discuss customer, formula status, sensory targets, claims boundaries, volume, cost target, packaging, and launch market.
2. Develop or transfer
Prepare samples and revisions for a new formula, or assess an owned formula and supporting records for scale-up and package compatibility.
3. Approve and produce
Confirm specifications, components, artwork, testing responsibilities, and approvals before compounding, filling, assembly, and release planning.
Shay Labs operates a cGMP and ISO 22716:2007 certified facility. Review quality and equipment practices when comparing partners. COA and SDS documentation are supplied during production as applicable.
